Master of Arts Program in English Language Education (With Thesis)
Application Regulations and Guideline
Applications of those who have graduated from undergraduate programs in English Language Teaching, English Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature, Linguistics, Translation Studies, and English Translation and Interpretation are evaluated.
- Having obtained a minimum score of 60 in ALES (Other exams declared by the Higher Education Council as substitutes for ALES and their equivalent scores may be used instead of ALES).
- To get at least 85 at YDS/YÖKDİL
- Or to earn acceptable levels of proficiency in one of the following internationally-recognized language proficiency options (CELA, TOEFL IBT, IELTS, PTE). For more information about proficiency exams and equivalents, please click here.
- Or to have at least 85 points at TEDU –EPE which is an exam prepared and conducted by TED University Preparatory School.
Application Evaluation Criteria
In admission processes to the master of arts program, ALES scores (a minimum of 60), as well as the scores to be earned based on scientific written exam and oral exam will be utilized, in addition to the English proficiency scores. All of the application criteria are enlisted below:
- ALES Verbal Score: 50%
- Scientific Written Exam 30%
- Oral Exam 10%
- MA Degree GPA 10% (For integrated doctoral program, the GPA of undergraduate degree will be taken into consideration)
- With the condition that it is no less than the above enlisted rules, the rules and regulations for the admission of international applicants are determined by TED University Senate.

- A copy of transcript acquired from the completed graduate program or ongoing undergraduate program
- A copy of up-to-date ALES score. International applicants can submit their GRE scores (GRE score option is also valid for Turkish nationals).
- Proficiency documents for English (TOEFL IBT, TOEFL PBT, +TWE, KPDS, ÜDS, YDS, YÖKDİL, UCLES). Any applicant who do not have one of those proficiency documents could take EPE- an English proficiency exam administered by TED University’s Preparatory School- to provide English proficiency documents. - A copy of approved undergraduate degree diploma or for those who are candidates for graduation, studentship document.
- A copy of ID card
- For male applicants, a document for military service status.
- For those applicants with a diploma earned abroad, diploma equivalency document.

Additional Notes
- It is mandatory that the application is complete with all of the necessary application materials and without any missing documents.
- You can sign into the application portal in order to complete an incomplete application and to upload a missing document.
- The dates for verbal exam will be announced via an email.
- In the circumstances of detecting application misconduct and misinformation, all the rights gained will be cancelled including acceptance to the program and registration statuses.
- Those candidates who already earned a doctoral degree and ALES requirement: PhD/proficiency in art/specialization in medicine/specialization in dentistry/specialization in veterinary medicine/specialization in pharmacy degrees of applicants will exempt the ALES requirement in their applications to TED University’s Graduate Program. Those applicants who are exempt in ALES score requirement will automatically apply with 70 points in ALES.
Application Calendar for 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester
- The date application system will open: May 6, 2024
- The date application system will close: July 12, 2024
- The date of written exam: July 22, 2024/ 10 AM- 1 PM
- The date of oral exam: July 23, 2024/ 1 PM- 18 PM
Written and oral exams will be held in the face-to-face mode.
